How To Receive the Holy Spirit



The Holy Spirit is a promise from Jesus to us

John 14:18 : "I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you". Jesus was speaking here when he was to go back to the Father.

John 14:26 : "But the Comforter , which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you".

In other words, the Holy Spirit is Jesus Christ himself coming down to the soul of the believers. The Holy Spirit is not an "it." He is not a divine influence. He is not a fleecy white cloud. He is not a ghost or a concept. He is a person possessing a will, intellect and emotions.

Galatians 4:6 : "And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father".

- No one without the Holy Spirit will inherit the kingdom of God: Jesus answered, verily, verily, I say unto thee, "Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit" ( John 3:5-6 ).

When you are truly baptized with the Holy Ghost, you now have eternal security within your soul, and you have been accepted in the beloved and have been bought with a price by God through Jesus Christ. You are now complete in Him, a truly heaven-bound creature.

How can we recieve this Holy Spirit?



1. Repent : The word "Repent" is from the greek word "matanoeo" which means "change ones mind". In other words,it means to change from "not willing to do God"s will" to "willing to do God"s will".

2. Be Baptised: "baptism" from the Greek word "baptizo" means to immerse or to submerge in water. Baptism can be in two forms (be baptized in water and of the Holy Spirit) , but in order to be baptized by the Holy Spirit you have be baptized by water, Jesus was baptized by John the baptist in water before the Spirit of God come upon him.Find some water(either ocean,lake or river), Anyone can baptise you(if already a Spirit filled believer).

3. Ask for God to give you the Holy Spirit: Jesus said "Ask and it shall be given unto you,seek and ye shall find........For everyone that asketh recieveth and he that seeketh findeth.....how much more shall your heavenly father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?" God is ready to give anyone the Holy Spirit only if you ask him.

Be prepared to be transformed and speak in tongues by the power of the Holy Spirit as the early disciples did.

After recieving the Holy Spirit,do not misuse or grieve it,ephesians 4:29-31 made us to understand that bitterness,wrath,anger,clamour,corrupt communications etc. can grieve the Holy Spirit. ALSO STAY AWAY FROM SIN!

Use your new tongue to talk to God in private and tell others how easy it was to recieve the Holy Spirit.
